
On the evening of January 27, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in the United States held an online cooperation discussion meeting. Attending the meeting were Dean Wang Rui of the conservatory, Dean Abraham K. Bush of the Jacobs School of Music, viola professor Zhang Liguo, as well as relevant officials from the International Office and the Department of Orchestra of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music.
Wang Rui expressed his pleasure at being able to meet Dean Bush and Professor Chang Li-kuo via online video conference. He pointed out that Zhejiang Conservatory of Music attaches great importance to cooperation with the Jacobs School of Music and always adheres to an open and inclusive educational philosophy. The cooperation is carried out on the basis of no preconditions or restrictions and in combination with the characteristics of both schools' education, aiming for comprehensive and multi-level collaboration. He emphasized that the two schools have established a solid foundation for cooperation based on mutual trust and deep affection, and that in the future they can further expand the depth and breadth of cooperation, actively exploring diverse forms of collaboration such as jointly organizing masterclasses, concerts, and new work performances. He sincerely invited Dean Bush to lead outstanding teachers and students from the Jacobs School of Music to visit Zhejiang Conservatory of Music as soon as possible, in order to continuously strengthen and deepen the friendly relations and consensus of cooperation between the two schools.

Bush expressed honor at being invited to participate in this meeting to discuss matters of cooperation. She pointed out that, despite the current complex and changing international situation, Jacob Music Academy will remain steadfast in advancing its partnership with Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. She will expedite the implementation of the short-term student exchange program, which will be open to all students of Zhejiang Conservatory, supporting students to study at Jacob Music Academy for one to two semesters. During this period, Zhejiang Conservatory students can participate in the academy’s various major courses, chamber music courses, and related programs, broadening their international perspective through immersive learning and gaining an in-depth understanding of the educational model and training system of a top international music institution. In the future, she looks forward to visiting Zhejiang Conservatory again at an appropriate time to continue the positive cooperative momentum between the two parties.
Next, both sides will jointly promote the implementation of the topics discussed in this meeting, further refine the cooperation content, improve the cooperation mechanisms, and make every effort to achieve substantial results in the collaboration between the two schools at an early date, working together to empower exchanges in music education and talent cultivation between China and abroad.
