First China-CEEC Music Academies Rector Forum Opens at ZJCM

The grand opening ceremony of China-CEEC Music Academies Rector Forum was held at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music (ZJCM) on the morning of 22nd September 2017.

Rectors and experts of 15 music academies from 14 central and eastern European countries (CEEC) including Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia attended the ceremony, along with the Secretary of ZJCM CPC Committee Chu Ziyu, the Vice Secretary of ZJCM CPC Committee and Vice President of ZJCM Zhang Jianguo, and directors of academic and administrative departments of ZJCM.

The Forum’s themes are “China-CEEC Music: Inheritance, Development and Innovation” and “China-CEEC Music: Exchanges and Collaboration”.

In his opening remarks, Mr Chu Ziyu said that with rich history in music and art, CEEC are significant cooperation partners in the Belt and Road initiative, and ZJCM sincerely looks forward to learning from CEEC  music academies.

 

Professor Gyula Fekete, the Vice Rector of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Hungary, spoke on behalf of the rectors. He highly acknowledged the China-CEEC Music Academies Rector Forum, and Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music will jointly promote China-CEEC exchange and collaboration in music with all the music academies.

Supported by China and CEEC cultural ministries and music academies, the Forum included 2 academic forums, 17 master classes and lectures, and 6 concerts. The evening of 22nd September witnessed a successful symphony concert performed by ZJCM Symphony Orchestra with conductor Zhipei Liu which impressed all the guests. The pipa soloist Yang Jing, a young award-winning teacher of ZJCM, and the cello soloist Li-Wei Qin, a world famous cellist and guest professor at ZJCM, won thunderous applause from the audience.
