To deepen and solidify educational collaboration between China and Central and Eastern European Countries(China-CEEC), a delegation of Chinese higher education leaders, organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange, visited Bulgaria and Serbia from October 13 to 20. Wang Junyin, Vice Chairman of University Council of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, represented our conservatory as part of this delegation."
On October 14, the second China-Bulgaria University Presidents’ Forum was held at the University of National and World Economy in Bulgaria. The forum welcomed 55 representatives from 29 Chinese universities, as well as delegates from over 20 Bulgarian universities, government officials, and experts from the education sector. Wang Junyin attended the forum and gave a presentation on behalf of ZJCM.
Titled "Zhejiang Conservatory of Music: Music Bridges the World to Build a Bright Future", Wang’s presentation introduced the ZJCM’s development, the "China-CEEC Music Institutions Alliance," and our broader international collaborations and educational exchange initiatives.
As a representative of an arts-focused higher education institution, Wang emphasized the warm and memorable performance by Sofia Aig Chinese School’s choir, who opened the event with popular Chinese songs like Thank You for Being Here and You Look So Lovely When You Smile. The choir’s performance brought a sense of warmth and friendship to all attendees, embodying music's power as a universal language that transcends borders and cultural differences. Wang expressed the hope that this event would foster deeper collaboration between ZJCM and Bulgarian institutions, advancing global music and cultural prosperity.
While in Bulgaria, Wang and the delegation also visited the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts and the University of Agriculture in Plovdiv. At the Academy, he attended a meeting with senior administrators, enjoyed a doctoral students’ concert, and engaged in in-depth discussions with Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Jean Pehlivanov on student and faculty exchanges, academic collaboration, and cultural performances. At the University of Agriculture, Wang learned about the development of its arts programs and expressed the university’s hope to establish lasting collaborations, furthering Sino-Bulgarian educational cooperation.
On October 17, the China-Serbia University Presidents’ Forum took place at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade, bringing together nearly 80 university leaders from both countries. The forum featured discussions on key themes, including “Enhancing Practical Research Collaboration,” “Opportunities and Challenges in Bilateral Student and Faculty Exchanges,” and “Digital Transformation in Higher Education.”
During their time in Serbia, Wang and the delegation visited the Belgrade Chinese Cultural Center, the Belt and Road Institute, and the University of Nis. They also met with officials at the Chinese Embassy in Serbia and visited students from ZJCM who are currently studying at the University of Arts in Belgrade, reminding them to make the most of their overseas study experience and to prioritize their safety.
