In May 2016, the Modern Music and Arts University was born along the Qiantang River. In its genes, it carries the spirit of modern Chinese music education initiated by Mr. Li Shutong at the Zhejiang Provincial First Normal School; its growth is deeply rooted in the currents of national rejuvenation and the building of a strong country, bearing the glorious mission of continuing the millennia-old cultural heritage and striving for artistic excellence. Under the strong leadership and deep care of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, all members of the university strictly adhere to the school motto of 'Strive for perfection in everything,' moving forward with the boldness of 'there is no starting line for reform and innovation,' standing at the forefront, adhering to integrity while innovating, and forging a distinctive path of advancing development.

The school has always adhered to the mission of "Educating people for the Party and cultivating talents for the country", committed to high-quality connotative development, and gradually built a music education system with distinct features of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and contemporary characteristics.
