ZJCM's Concerts in Egypt and USA During 2018 Happy Chinese New Year Celebrations

Two music delegations of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music (ZJCM) performed overseas during the past Spring Festival as part of 2018 Happy Chinese New Year celebrations, one in Egypt from 08 Feb to 13 Feb 2018 and another in USA from 14 Feb to 17 Feb 2018.

The jazz band from the Department of Pop Music held concerts in Confucius Institute at Cairo University on the afternoon of 09 Feb (local time), and then in Arab Music Institute on 12 Feb. Their programme combined classic jazz pieces including Like That and In The Sentimatal Mood with traditional Chinese songs such as Jasmine Flower and Rose Rose I Love You, which received high praise from Egyptian audience. Also,they performed in a dinner banquet hosted by Chinese Embassy in Egypt on 13 Feb.

 

  Invited by Confucius institutes at Western Kentucky University, Middle Tennessee State University, and Memphis University, another ZJCM delegation of 17 artists from departments of traditional Chinese music, drama, and pop music brought traditional and regional music to America. They performed at Mead County School, Louisville on 14 Feb, Hinton Music Hall, Nashville on 16 Feb, and Michael D.Rose Theatre, Memphis on 17 Feb. All the three concerts won warm applause.
