The founding ceremony of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music's Orchestra Academy, Chinese Orchestra Academy, Opera Academy, Chamber Music Academy, and Choral Academy ('Five Academies' for short) was held at the library hall of ZJCM on the afternoon of 18 June 2020, which marked ZJCM's lead nationwide in the reform of performing discipline teaching to build a brand new education mechanism for top talents. The ceremony was hosted by vice president Yang Jiuhua.
Plaques of 'Five Academies' were unveiled by Director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism Chu Ziyu, President of Zhejiang Musicians Association Wen Chigeng, head of Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra Guo Yijiang, ZJCM's Party Secretary Hu Jianxin, ZJCM's President Wang Rui, artistic directors of 'Five Academies' and deans of relevant departments.
On behalf of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Chu Ziyu congratulated on the establishment of 'Five Academies' and expressed expectations for ZJCM.
In his speech, Wang Rui pointed out that the founding of 'Five Academies' was a firm step in ZJCM's teaching reform and education innovation, and also a new practice aiming at cultivating first-class professionals qualified for career by building a education mechanism and open disciplinary platform. ZJCM would take the construction of 'Five Academies' as an opportunity for reform and innovation to improve core competitiveness.
Orchestra Academy's Artistic Director Hu Yongyan and Chinese Orchestra Academy's Artistic Director Wang Fujian were present at the ceremony, while Artistic Director of Chamber Music Academy Ning Feng, Opera Academy Luan Feng, and Choral Academy James Jordan joined the ceremony through video.
The ceremony was concluded by performances including string duo Passacaglia.
