Orchestral Instruments Department
Orchestral Instruments Department hosts a faculty of 41 full-time, residential teachers. It comprises of 15 teaching groups, including:
All the teaching staffs graduated from top-tier music conservatories across the world and have achieved a high degree of professional competence. Some of them held positions, performing in the finest ensembles, or served as jury members for competitions - at home and abroad.
Eminent artist-teachers include:
Violinist Piao Ying - former concertmaster of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Violinist Shi Shuai - a prize winner of the prestigious Menuhin Violin Competition;
Henryk Wieniawski - performing at International Violin Competitions and
Wang Dandi – a Cellist, won a prize at the May Mukle Cello Competition.
In addition, celebrated guest artists as well as world-renowned performers, such as cellist Qin LiWei, are frequently invited to give lectures, master classes and music workshops at school.
The mission of the department is to cultivate students, with a thorough grounding in instrumental techniques and have opportunities for a broad range of experience, in performances.
Fostered in a supportive, nurturing environment, students are encouraged to take full advantage of the ample performance opportunities on campus so as to sharpen their performance skills as the future soloists, chamber musicians, bands and orchestral instrumentalists.
