On the morning of September 4, Acting Consul General of Romania in Shanghai, Ovidiu Simina, along with his wife, Marie-Jeanne MĂI-ANTAL, visited the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music (ZJCM). They were warmly received by ZJCM leaders including Party Committee Secretary Gan Wudong, President Wang Rui, and Vice President Dong Dejun.

Gan Wudong and Mr. and Mrs. Simina discussed the exchanges of talent and educational cooperation between ZJCM and Romanian conservatories.

Welcoming their visit, Wang Rui emphasized music as the universal language and its ability to bridge hearts. As the chairman unit of the China-CEEC Music Academies Union, ZJCM has established a good foundation for exchanges and cooperation with Romania. The Romanian National University of Music Bucharest has been a founding member of the China-CEEC Music Academies Union and has participated the Union’s related activities. Furthermore, ZJCM’s Department of Piano and the Piano Department of the Transilvania University of Brasov had reciprocal visits in 2018 and 2019, including concerts and master classes of young teachers on each other’s campus. Wang Rui expressed his anticipation for utilizing the visit as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between ZJCM and Romania in the field of music and arts.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Mr. Simina acknowledged music as the most beautiful language, capable of transcending national and cultural boundaries and fostering cross-border understanding. As the Consul General of Romania in Shanghai, he expressed willingness to provide assistance and facilitation for deepening cooperation between ZJCM and Romanian conservatories. Next year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Romania. In light of this, Mr. Simina proposed joint planning between ZJCM and its Romanian counterparts to organize influential international music competitions or exchange activities, to promote the development of music art while bolstering bilateral cultural exchanges and deepening friendship between peoples of the two countries.
